Happy one month...

ok guyss...this one i had to write..just a month old in my new organisation...and here sharing a few experiences with you.

The start- Like everywhere, i was welcomed well with all the politeness and gentleness in the world...with smiling but confused faces (yess!! they are confused about what am i doing in Industry Relations with background in media, PR, advertising etc etc! Its been over a month but the confusion is still ON!)

Place - The place is good...a stride better than my previous organisations, with helping and smiling faces around. People are polite and work environment allows you to be YOU! Individual space and respect is given to each matter on which ladder of the hierarchy he/she is working. Over here one can live his/her personal and professional lives with equal satisfaction. A decent working place with professionalism of corporate!

People - This is one is too simple yet complicated to explain....coz m still learning about them, their behaviors, attitudes etc etc. Process of perception making is still on...coz everyday  a few are made and many are broken!! you this world how difficult it is to know who is who!

Cut to my interactions with so happened that suddenly when i started feeling naaiiccee and gooooodieee gooodieee....things started happening!...not so weird but yeah funny in a way! People who were giving cute nice good-morning smiles suddenly became wannbe dudes and dudettes! Colleagues who appeared proper and sensible suddenly came out of their shells to prove "don't go on my looks...m wierd!" ok...point taken!

And yes..cannot miss to mention first comment/complement(still thinking how to take it) came in flat 15 days.."you are rude!"....communicated by someone with whom i was not rude!?! or may be i was...donno! and the one with whom i was.. Mr. oh-so-wannabe-cool dooodee never came out!!

Moving ahead...the place where i sit...a medium sized humanless cubicle divided in six equal halves, with only 3 where i spend my entire day..hip-hopping from one chamber to another..from one wing to another...from one floor to another...obviously for work! It is this cubicle where i met two colleague turned friends P and P!(made other friends too...but with them only kaam ki baat...and with these two..only faaltoo bakwaas!!). My gurus in the me gyans and enlightenment which no one else can give...not even the old and knowledgeable category and not even all the HRDs combined on this earth!!! (you know..what m talking about..the inside khabars...shhhh!! not to tell anyone!!SECRETSS ;-) However, amongst these is an occasional visitor and the other will soon become a rare and hard to locate entity!

There is one another Mr. P..the only reason for this place to be lively, simple and innocent! Not very important part of the organisation but yes someone without whom the cubicle will lose its life. His presence makes this place and people stand apart from others. Respect!

Observation - this place is divided into two age-groups!!,..Men/Women and Boys/Girls!!Men and Women are smart, old, knowledgeable and settled in their lives...while the other category is tunelessly searching for its identity in the organisation..(this includes me too!)..some frantically trying to reach there...while others have lost all the hopes! be continued

Book Review: On Wings of Butterflies

Author: Kavery Nambisan
Publisher: Penguin Books India (P) Ltd
ISBN: 0-14-302811-1
Pages: 253

The prologue: "To Chauvinists, male and female: you keep out of this".

The straightforwardness in the line says it all.Written by a woman author, the book talks about women and their hatred for men!

Evita, a young Panjim girl sets out to unite womankind of the entire world, to fight against the opposites, men. Evita in her twenty's has seen the suffering of her mother, an eye-turner waitress in a local restaurant in morning and at night she has clients coming from all over the city! Scarred and marred by her mother's defenseless life, she decides to unite the women and fight the battle on its face.

Soon her idea of forming an organisation, WOMEN OR WOMEN (WOW), a single group  of world's largest minority, starts to take a shape as many show interest and start to join. Her group unites all sorts of women coming from various walks of life, perfunctory wives, passive yet full of life widow, ambitious professionals, high on drama students, NRI women and a queen with stories of their own, of shame, suffering, pain, anguish, distress and agony. They all want to teach men a lesson, but with different ways and procedures.

As these women get together from all over the country and world, men come in with equal force, spurning the ideas of women and to safeguard their perceived supremacy! The events take unexpected turns with women and men mafia coming into the picture on one hand, while the third force of world, children coming into another.

The book is divided into two parts, the former one talks about women, their struggles with life and decisions to join the group while the latter describes the story of WOW, their meetings, conventions, decisions, perceptions of members and struggles as an upcoming women political party.

However the end is predictable throughout the story but unfolds in an interesting way. All in all a good read!

Beauty lies in ACCEPTANCE!

This age old statement is partially true and is selfish in its own sense. Man will always like what he has or what he possess or what he inherited or what he aims of? What is beautiful to me, might not be charming to you. Whatever i like will always be beautiful to me. A child is always beautiful to her mother, husband will always be dashing for a wife, first tea will always be tasty for a teenager, first love will always be beautiful to me, my house will be a palace to me.... My thing can never be ugly to me.

Then where does this line fit in? Iam a beholder of my beauty same as others are. In this world of material beauty there are a few acceptable things which defines it: a flawless face, perfect figure, luxurious life, handsome man, success, fame, name, serene blue sea, vegetation, bright moon night, candle light dinner, high hills, snow cladded mountains, art, love, god, blessings, miracles, good luck, mother, father, relationships..and the list of all positive things will go on.

All these things are created by God.  Then why many of us condemn other things which are also created by almighty. Why can't we see beauty in so called ugly things of life. Why don't disabled people attract us, why can't we find beauty in poverty, feminine, not so perfect figured girl, not so handsome looking man, one bedroom flat, failure, dessert, struggle, loneliness.....

When beauty lies in the eyes of beholder...then why can't we see beauty in all these things. Aren't they exist on this planet or we just don't want them to happen in our lives. Why do look down upon those who are less privileged. They have equal right to live and and breathe. Why do we sympathize with them for a moment but cannot accept them in our lives. Why? Because they don't seem beautiful to naked eye?

Our beauty lies in acceptance...accepting whatever is given to us by God, whatever we have, all human beings of the earth, nature (in whatever form it comes to us) and people around us. We all must remember our beauty must see beauty of others and not their so-called ugly side.

PR as communication tool

To live is to communicate. Communication is very important for existence of any human being. Communication is a process of sharing and expressing views, opinions, experiences and information. Not only personally, professionally also, communication is very important. Business organisations, corporates inform customers about their products/services/goods through the process of communication.

With the increased competition among businesses, it becomes vital for organisation to effectively communicate with target customers. In order to so, big corporates have dedicated marketing communication departments which uses communication tools like advertising, Public Relations, direct Marketing, Personal Selling, Events to communicate with people.

Advertising creatively and effectively communicates, aware and persuades audience to buy a particular product. Public Relations, on the other hand, has emerged as an effective communication tool for the companies which not only inform, but also helps in building the positive image of the company.

My sunshine!

Sunshine sparkles through the leaves of my tree
Warm air sighs through the leaves of my tree!

Journey of Life!

Focus on the journey, not the destination!

Carve a tunnel of hope through the dark mountain of disappointment

Support Anna INDIA!

Few weeks back, the entire country was hip hopping on the tunes of World Cup 2011 and prayed for Team India to win the cup for us. Why we prayed for them...did any one of us got to touch the cup or got to kiss it in front of gateway of India? or did it increased the shaan of any one of our's drawing rooms? No...we all prayed for our country...for INDIA...coz we cannot see it losing..losing to anyone.

We were patriotic when MS Dhoni picked up the World Cup. We felt goosebumps all over our body when Dhoni hit that historic six. Nationalism ran into our bloods when we saw Yusuf Pathan carrying Sachin on his shoulders, parading all aroud Wankhede. We are still celebrating the emotions and feelings of being World Champions...coz we are proud Indians.

Now again our country needs us.After World Cup, Anna Hazare has given us the chance to stand for our rights and fight against corruption. To show the world that we cannot see our country losing, nor in the game of cricket nor to corruption. If the amount of people who were hooked to the sports channels on the night of 2nd April, come out and support the cause, there will be no option in front of the goverment but to pass the Janlokpal bill.

The campaign started by Chetan Bhagat to support the movement
It's the time to act, to stand up and do somethng for our country. To show that we are not cricket crazy patriotic country...but we are truely fanatic Indians. For our rights, we will leave no stone uuturn, to see India... a corruption free socitey.

Guys...stand up for this man of steel and support him. In whatever way you can...come out in open, out of your cocoons and leave this chalta hai attitude. We have to do something to give our children a free nation. Support the movement in every bit.

Book Review: The House at Midnight

Author: Lucie Whitehouse
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, London
ISBN: 978 0 7475 9625 7
Pages: 374
First published in 2008

A psychological thriller, the story is horrifying and tragic in its own way. It doesn't take you into paranormal world, but makes you dance high and low onto the dirty secrets of human minds and hearts. After the suicide of his uncle, Lucas Heathfield inherits the Stoneborough Manor, which he imagines to be a place where he and his close friends can spend weekends far away from chaos and noise of London city.

From the beginning, the house haunts their relationships and effects their emotions in a strange way, especially on Lucas, who leaves his job and shifts to the house permanently with friend Danny, a wild child who becomes responsible for shattered group of friends. Lucas obsesses himself with alcohol, drugs and cine films of his uncle and his friends thirty years earlier. With these cine films escapes the dark secrets of high sexual emotions, love and tensions of his family, very similar to his own group. The group meets at a final dinner party at the house, which changes their lives forever, ruining friendships.

From all the characters, the house is the biggest character, changing colors with every dramatic twist in the story. In the beginning, it becomes the point of admiration for its art, paintings and charismatic character of its owner Patrick, but as the events in the story unfolds it becomes a lusty ghost trying to cast spell on each of them while becoming a reason of shattering friendships, family relations and innocent trust at the end.

The House at Midnight is a thriller, moving in its own pace, compelling the reader to accompany it. It gyrates around sinister desires, emotions and passions of failed and existing relationships . Author creates an atmosphere which pulls the reader into it, makes  him a part of the group, experiencing the evil leer of the house. An irresistible page turner!

You know you had an awesome trip with friends when.....

You think about THAT trip about 4-5 times a day

You just can't stop from checking the pics whenever you open PC

You start realizing non-trippers are getting uncomfortable of newly developed bondings and equations

You check for friends albums/updates/comments about THAT trip.... whenever you log on to Facebook

You just want to talk about the trip and fun you had with fellow colleagues/family

You desperately want those days to come back

You want to meet those friends again and again

You want them to know how close they have come to you

You start liking that temporary life over your permanent one

You smile alone when happy thoughts come to your mind

You are still under the hangover even after 2 weeks.........

Was on trip with friends to Jim Corbett and Nainital for 5 days....the fun i had there is unmatchable. Love you guys for making those days so so special for me.

With loads of love,
Dedicated to all my MMC rockstars!

Confessions of a confused mind...

Life is not easy i have realised this hard fact in my small little life of 25 years. But one has to make it beautiful and worth living. I have seen many people who make their lives appear to be very gorgeous...but only from outside. When you get a chance to sneek peak into their oh-so-wanna-be will find it stagnant and rotten. Iam confused in my mind what life i want....obviously the answer would be the former one!

So, is my constant pursuit to get a best out of my life...but HOW?? Iam a university student right now with loads of bright ideas and dreams in mind...but will they get fulfilled? How can i expect my days to be smooth and tension free after university days? How will i get a good job...a dream job? a job which can show me some bank balance at the end of month?? a job where i do not return home tired...where there is no which does not hurt my ego...Why the hell iam expecting all this...when i know that there is no miracle waiting outside.

As the ending days are approaching...i feel like hiding to some place where these days do not end..everything comes to eternity for i don't want to face those cruel moments which i have aleready witnessed. But that is not possible. Life is no cherry on a cake! One has to face the music if you want to sale on high have to bear those brunts to get a scar free future. Anyways now when i realise that i cannot escape from this reality comes another big question...WHAT KIND OF LIFE I WANT??

This is something which keeps on haunting my days and nights. How do i want to live? Like a super successful professional woman who has her shares (actually MORE) of frustrations in her personal life or like a perfect indian sati-savitri types bahu...who is always under pressures to prove her abilities and has to look to her husband for every single thing she has to buy...what do i want? Something in between..a part of each!..well that is something every girl wants..but then do they get it? Do they get satisfactions and peace in life? If yes...then how do they do it? How do they strike such a BALANCE?

Having seen the hoities of media world...i find it something difficult to do. You have to sacrifice either of the one. But do i want that? Do i want to remain single till 35? NO! Do i want a life of housewife after acquring MA's and PG's in mass comm? CERTAINLY NOT! The life that i demand for myself is not an easy one. GOD HELP ME!!I want to run in every direction. I want THIS and i want THAT too. I want name, fame and privacy at the same time. I want to rule the world but i want to live and nurture my small little world also. HOW WILL THIS HAPPEN?

I want several answers from life..i have many questions from life. Who will answer these question? Yeah...i know i have to search them myself.  I think i need to sit back and make a list of priorities in life...what i can achieve and what is out of my limits. I need to make realistic goals for myself else my mind will go haywire and i will burst myslelf. SWOT ANAYLSYIS is need of an hour....

PR in election campaigns...Government PR (part IV)

The following are the important functional areas for PR counseling in any typical election campaign for political candidates:

1)      The appraisal of the candidate is the first step in public relations dealing with a political campaign for the political candidate. His/Her financial background, assets, history, party, family, structure and social power – all should be carefully studied. In case of a woman candidate, the PR programmes are quite different. The appraisal gives the scope to determine the methods for the campaign.

2)      The appraisal also should indicate the candidate’s exposure to the voters. The strength of the candidate is to be decided by analysis of his/her trustworthiness, compatibility, ability, experience, administrative capability, energy, good judgment and other virtues. In the election field, there is a close contact between the candidate and the election authority like the Indian Election commission, which is the highest authority in the matters of conduction of election. It is essential for PR personnel to work closely with rules and regulations formulated by the Commission, potential changes and their implication. It is important that PR counselors check and re-check what is being going on in different constituencies. There are also penalties for violation of rules and regulations.

3)      To note contribution limits, independent expenditure, campaign limits should not exceed the limit.

4)      Buying time, booking space, layout advertisement, how and when repetition, language and so on and so forth demand creative judgment of the PR counsel. This decision is left up to the PR counsel only but not outsiders.

Census 2011

Colors add life to dull and dry ...children love colors and nature is biggest reservoir of these beautiful and lively hues and tones. Then how come people say that they don't have color in their lives? To live is to enjoy and cherish the gifts of god. Look around yourself and you will find yourself in the world of reds, blues, greens, pinks and purples. There is no black and white!

Imagine your best of pictures in black and white. You may like it for some time and might  frame it as your wall photo...but somewhere your wish would be to see the same picture in check how beautiful you look in real life. Real life is a colored film with real life incidents and events!

Whenever m sad and cheerless...i surround myself with colors which help me realise that life is too short to be is on move and will fade away just at that time when you start enjoying it.

So..start living in present and enjoy each and every moment of life..without worrying what is stored in future. Absorb the fragrance of those colors which life has gifted you!

Objective of PR in Government....part II (Government PR)

1)      Constant public relations efforts to maintain high level of confidence and trust of public on government.

2)      Keeping the public aware of its plans, policies, its future prospects, the quality of service and effective use of public funds and the extent of public support and co – operation needed.

3)      Reporting on progress, development and achievements quickly, correctly and timely on events, benefits, physical and financial progress.

Happy Valentine's week...spread the magic of love!

February....the month of love, romance and passion. The soft fragrance of roses fill the air around with pure and selfless love. The weather also makes the mood worth spending time with your sweethearts, friends and family. The rough and unsophisticated phase of winters ends here marking the  beginning of adorable spring...where nature is on its full blossom...blooming hope and promise!

Colors around spread the message of peace, tranquility and harmony. What is beautiful on earth is in all relationships makes life worth living. Relationships are the basis of human life and are the deciding factors of successes and failures. I think the hidden motive of celebrating Valentine's week across the globe is to strengthen relationships, solve the estranged knots, get the lost one's back and rekindle the fading feelings of care and concern.

Celebrate this 'love week' with your near and dear one and make them feel special for everything they have done for you.

In those years of loneliness
i want you to hold me!

In those last hours
i want your promise to meet again!
